Upon completion of the requirements for graduation, the graduates are eligible to take the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to become a Certified Dental Assistant, or take the Radiation Examination to be certified to take radiographs in the state of Texas.

National Certification is obtained by sitting for the Dental Assisting National Board Exam. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the Certification Exam immediately after graduation.

Students may enter the program with articulated credit from high school. Articulated Tech-Prep Enhanced Skills Certificates are available for students who have met the Associate of Applied Science in Dental Assisting program competencies.

Additional information on this requirement is provided at the program orientation. Students are responsible for their own transportation to off-campus clinical learning sites. In order to complete the requirements for progression and graduation, students enrolled in this program must have a grade of “C” or better in all specialized courses.
