President's Welcome

Welcome to El Paso Community College! Our mission at El Paso County Community College District is to provide educational opportunities and support services that prepare individuals to improve their personal quality of life and to contribute to their economically and culturally diverse community.

EPCC currently offers more than 130 academic programs and more than 350 personal enrichment/continuing education courses at our five campuses located throughout El Paso County. The College also offers cutting-edge technology, ultra-modern training facilities, and innovative learning options. Our plans for our sixth campus at Fort Bliss are coming along well and fast. This collaboration among EPCC, the University of Texas at El Paso, New Mexico State University, Park University, Webster University, and Troy University will be the first of its kind, with its location at one of the largest military installations in the United States.

We are proud to announce that EPCC has once again been ranked in the Community College Week as 1st amongst nearly 1,200 community colleges in awarding associate degrees to Hispanic students, and 16th overall of all colleges and universities; EPCC has also recently been awarded the 2013 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine’s November 2013 issue, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education; EPCC was also named to the coveted 2014 Military Friendly Schools ® list which names the top 20 of the colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

Along with this significant accomplishments, EPCC has also been recognized nationally as an Achieving the Dream Leader College; awarded the Leah Meyer Austin Institutional Student Success Leadership Award for outstanding institutional achievement in equity and excellence in 2011; recognized by Excelencia in Education with the “Samples of Excellence” award for the Early College High School program; and was nominated for the prestigious Aspen Award. Credit for these accomplishments can be attributed to the outstanding faculty and staff that make EPCC “The Best Place to Start,” and “The Best Place to Continue.”

EPCC continues to build community partnerships with our K-12 partners as evidenced by our eighteen Early College High Schools, fourteen P-TECHS and our growing Dual Credit enrollment program, providing educational opportunities to high school students throughout El Paso County. We are also very proud to announce our newest partnership with the Socorro Independent School District and embark on the Elementary School Adoption Program undertaken to promote a college-going culture through the College Bound Initiative. We will move forward with planning for the future and continue to focus on EPCC engagement, partnerships, creating a college‐going culture, and completion, and be the First Place to Start!

Sincerely,

William Serrata, Ph.D.
