The Risk Management Institute at the El Paso Community College, thanks to a generous donation by Texas Mutual Insurance Company, was created to offer seminars on worker’s health and safety for employers, employees, and the general public.
EPCC Risk Management Institute (RMI) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have maintained an alliance since 2017 to promote worker safety and health. In recognition of this ongoing commitment, EPCC-RMI and OSHA continue to acknowledge the value of maintaining a collaborative relationship to improve safety and health in American workplaces, and commit to continue their work together through an Alliance Program Ambassador relationship.
El Paso Community College’s Risk Management Institute aims to reduce work-related fatalities, accidents, and injuries by changing participants’ long-term safety and health workplace habits. This purpose is accomplished through high quality training provided by industry practitioners and procured through partnerships with local, state, and national business and government entities.
One of the key aspects of the Risk Management Institute’s success is building innovative and responsive partnerships with local businesses, specifically those with higher risk of workplace fatalities, accidents, and injuries, such as construction. The Institute makes the training not only effective but also highly convenient by designing customized training based on the employer’s specific needs for locations, schedules, languages, and topics
The seminars include a wide variety of risk management/safety topics. These courses range from courses, such as OSHA 10 or 30 Hour for Construction or General Industry, to specific topics such as confined spaces, fall prevention, electrocution hazard recognition, caught-in or between hazard recognition, trenching and excavation, ergonomics, OSHA recordkeeping, accident investigation procedures, amongst others. Courses are offered in English and Spanish.
