If you need to brush up on your English skills to get ready for college-level courses, the English as a Second Language (ESOL) sequence is what you should take.

  • Take the Accuplacer-ESL.
  • Talk to a counselor. If your scores are low, register for the ESL Bridge classes.

The ESL Bridge college transition option is very helpful for second-language learners who need to improve English skills (reading, writing, listening) as well as math skills. Students also learn about college careers and practice many important higher education skills, such as taking notes, asking questions, staying organized, and correctly emailing instructors.

  • If your scores are high enough for the ESOL sequence, register for classes after you’ve talked to a counselor.
  • Classes are available in reading/vocabulary, speaking/listening, and writing/grammar.

Things to Remember

  • Bridge courses are available at a low cost.
  • The ESOL sequence is Financial Aid eligible.
  • Labs are available for all skill levels.
  • At the advanced level of the ESOL sequence, students will take a co-requisite academic class.
