The Workforce Strategic Initiatives (WSI) Department of El Paso Community College helps companies build a world-class workforce to remain competitive in a global economy. WSI helps improve the company’s and employee’s performance through training programs developed for specific business applications and manufacturing processes. The training upgrades skills of present and new employees to prepare them for industry-recognized certifications. WSI’s goal is to provide training that meets the specific needs of local business and industry to enhance job skills, strengthen community partnerships, and stimulate economic growth of El Paso’s workforce.

We provide:

  • Skills Upgrade Training for employees
  • Flexible Training Schedule on-site or EPCC
  • Consultation and program development with subject matter experts

WSI has provided training for companies, such as, BD (Carefusion), Delfingen, DISH Network LLC, Helen of Troy, Technimark, The Hospitals of Providence (THOP), Toro, and many others in the Borderplex region.

WSI helps train employees at little or no cost to the employer. We seek out, apply for, and manage state and federal grant funding by accessing public funds to offset the cost of training. The Texas Workforce Commission grants include: Apprenticeship, Skills Development Fund, Skills for Small Business, Skills for Transition Program, and Self-Sufficiency Fund. Additional funding may be available from other public and private sources.
