Program Description

The 525-hour continuing education Massage Therapy Program prepares individuals to successfully qualify for licensure through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. This intense and immersive program meets and exceeds the requirements. Students learn techniques including Swedish, Clinical, Prenatal, Hot Stone, and Chair massage, along with spa services in our state-of-the-art facility. They also take core classes such as A&P, Kinesiology, and Pathology. The massage suite includes massage and lecture classrooms, wet tables, a sauna, and jetted tubs. Graduates of the program are eligible for the national Mblex exam and/or the State of Texas Exam.

Potential Careers: Licensed Massage Therapists, Sole Proprietors (own your own business), Day Spas, Medical Spas, Resorts, Fitness Centers, Rehab/Pain Centers, Cruise Ships, Chiropractic Offices, Hospitals, Massage Therapy Clinics.

Potential Salary: $20 to $36 hourly to $32,000 to $74,000 yearly nationally, depending on career, education, location and experience.

Things To Know

  • The Massage Therapy Program offers a day and weekend class.
  • The length of the Program is approximately 7 months for the weekday class and approximately 9 1/2 months for the weekend class.
  • There is a total of 9 classes. They are as follows: Fundamentals 1 & 2, A&P, Kinesiology, Pathology, Health & Hygiene, Business Practices, Hydrotherapy and Internship.
  • Books: Massage Principles and Practice 7th edition by Susan Salvo, Trail Guide to the Body 6th edition, along with the accompanying work book, Andrew Biel.

Requirements

  • Students are encouraged to have a strong reading level to succeed in the course work. The reading level of 10th grade or above.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Attend an orientation
