
The Security and Special Officers Program prepares students to enter directly into the Private Security field as an entry-level Security Officer or Special Officer in Texas.
The program contains two levels of training: Basic and Advanced. The Basic level program is required by all armed security officer positions in Texas while the Advanced program is optional but desired by those agencies desiring a higher level of training and skill level.
Goal:
The goal of this program is to provide qualified applicant pool for all private security agencies in the region. Graduates may apply for positions anywhere in Texas. In addition, we hope to help facilitate each student’s long-term career in the field of private security.
Courses offered:
The Basic Security Officer Course is offered as a 38-hour comprehensive block of instruction that incorporates training in Report Writing, Firearms and all training requirements set forth by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau. The Advanced Course continues with an additional 32 hours of training to include less-than-lethal force weapons, defensive tactics training, first aid and CPR training and certification.
Concealed Handgun License Course 12 Hours
This course is designed to meet or exceed all of the instructional and training requirements necessary for students to apply for a concealed handgun license in the state of Texas.
Concealed Handgun License Renewal Course 4 Hours
This course is designed to meet or exceed all of the instructional and training requirements necessary for the concealed handgun license holder to apply for a license renewal in the stat of Texas.
Apprenticeship Programs:
Graduates will receive further, specialized, on-the-job training (OJT) in with their hiring agency depending upon their job description.
Job Opportunities:
Many of the local area private security agencies are actively seeking applicants to fulfill existing contracts.
