The Nursing Home Activity Director works directly with the elderly and people with disabilities. Individuals in this profession organize and lead recreation programs to promote the psychosocial well being of residents and assure highest level of participation by residents/clients in health care facilities. These are usually individual or group activities that may include exercise, games and crafts, social outings, musical entertainment, and visits by church groups and other organizations.
The NAAP-NCCAP basic education course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to gain employment as an activity professional in a nursing home setting.
Admission Requirements:
- Current CPR (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider)
- Tested 8th grade reading level
- High school diploma or GED
