According to the U.S. Department of Labor in 2002, employment opportunities for massage therapists are expected to grow at a faster than average rate. Through 2012, massage therapists are likely to see a 20 percent to 35 percent (21% to 35%) increase in job opportunities.
The new 500-hour program prepares students to sit for one of two national examinations required to be licensed as a massage therapist in Texas. Courses include: Massage Therapy Fundamentals I, Anatomy and Physiology, Health and Hygiene, Hydrotherapy, Business Practices and Professional Ethics, Massage Therapy Fundamentals II, Kinesiology, Pathology, and Internship.
This program is offered in the massage suite at the newly remodeled ASC facility, located at 9050 Viscount. The massage suite has classrooms, locker room, and spa facilities to enhance student learning.
Admission Requirements:
- Physical Exam from a Licensed US Physician
- Proven 10th Grade Reading Level
- High School Diploma or GED
- Recent TB Tine Test or Chest X-Ray
- 18 Years Old or Older
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Measles and Tetanus Inoculations
- Mandatory Orientation
