Industry Codes & Trade Skills

Industry Training courses provide opportunities for the employed worker to update or upgrade existing skills, or to acquire new skills leading to certification in many areas of study. Industry Training courses include the following areas of study: Blueprint Reading for Construction, Construction Cost Estimating, Building Codes, Plumbing Codes, and Irrigation Systems.

Blueprint Reading for Construction will provide you the tools to interpret blueprints in the building/construction industry. Specific technical skills covered include reading, interpretation and application of symbols, graphic language, and terminology.
 
Construction Cost Estimating will forecast the cost of future projects is vital to the survival of any business. Cost estimators develop the cost information that business owners or managers need to make a bid for a contract or to decide whether a proposed new product will be profitable. They also determine which endeavors are making a profit.

Building Codes
presents the basic code requirements specified by the Southern Building Code Congress and local ordinances for building safety and structural systems. Includes updates for existing building codes with concentration on one and two family dwellings.
      
Plumbing Codes this course covers code requirements specified by state and local ordinances for the installation of plumbing systems. Includes updates in the Plumbing Codes resulting from code revisions.

Industry Codes & Trade Skills

Irrigation Systems course provides a comprehensive study of applicable codes, laws, regulations, terminology, components, installation methods, design principles, hydraulics, control systems, and related information necessary for licensure and successful practice. The irrigation systems course will take the student through classroom instruction laboratory exercises, and practical filed experiences. Emphasizes the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of sprinkler and irrigation systems. This course prepares the student for Texas Landscape Irrigation License Exam. These courses are designed to provide you with that foundational knowledge and enough practice at reading blueprints, construction cost estimating, building codes, plumbing codes, and irrigation systems to get you started. Mastery of these courses will come with practice on the job on a regular basis.
