
The Automotive Technology program is designed to prepare students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary for a modern, state of the art automotive technician position.
The increasing sophistication of automotive technology now requires workers who can use computerized shop equipment and work with electronic components while maintaining their skills with traditional hand tools. Automotive service technicians as vehicle components and systems become increasingly sophisticated. Motorcycle mechanics repair and overhaul motorcycles. Besides repairing engines, they may work on transmissions, brakes, and ignition systems and make minor body repairs.
Goal:
Automotive Technology is an instructional program that prepares individuals to engage in the servicing and maintenance of all types of motor vehicles by providing classroom instruction and laboratory experiences using equipment comparable to that found in industry. Upon successful completion the student will be awarded a Certificate.
Courses Offered:
Automotive Engine Repair, Basic Automotive Electronics, and Motorcycle Repair.

Job Opportunities:
The majority worked for automotive repair and maintenance shops, automobile dealers, and retailers and wholesalers of automotive parts, accessories, and supplies. Employment growth will continue to be concentrated in automobile dealerships and independent automotive repair shops.
