How to cite Contemporary
Criticism following MLA
- Today,
you are learning to cite an article from the book, Contemporary Literary Criticism
which you find in the Reference area of V.V. Library.
- These
slides are NOT from a digitized book or an electronic book. They are just a "picture"
of the books that we have in the Reference area.
- The
book was scanned so you could use your computer to see how the original book looks.
- Contemporary
Literary Criticism is going to give you excerpts of criticism published previously
elsewhere.
- irst
you cite THE ORIGINAL (the book or journal from where the excerpt was taken);
- then
you CITE THE BOOK THAT PUBLISHED THE EXCERPT.
- At
the end of the excerpt you find the information you need to cite the original.
- In this example,
the information available is:
Olga
W. Vickery. "The Sound and the Fury: a Study in Perspective." in The
Sound and the Fury an Authoritative Text Backgrounds and Contexts, Criticism,
edited by David Minter, W.W. Norton & Co. 1987, pp. 293-311.
