Citing the Internet MLA Style

Example of an article or chapter in a book:

Austen, Jane. "Chapter II." Emma. ReadPrint. ReadPrint, 2009. Web. 13 April, 2009 <http://www.readprint.com/chapter-257/Jane-Austen>.

Example of an article in an encyclopedia:

Author. Title of article (in quotation marks). Title of electronic publication (database). Version number, if relevant and if not part of the title. Sponsoring institution or organization. Date of electronic publication. Medium.Date of access.

"San Juan, City, Puerto Rico." Encyclopaedia Britannica Online. Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2009. Web. 14 April 2009.

Example of an article from a scholarly journal:

Author. Title of article (in quotation marks). Title of journal (italicized). Volume, issue number. Date of publication (in parentheses). Pages, or paragraphs. Publisher, date. Medium. Date of access.

Young, Lawrence H., et al. "Cardiac Outcomes After Screening for Asymptomatic Coronary Artery Disease in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes." JAMA 

        301.15 (15 April, 2009): 1547-1555. Jama, 2009. Web. 15 April 2009.

Example of a Online Database (or Subscription Service): Academic Search Complete, Health & Wellness Resource Center, e-Library, SIRS Researcher, etc.

Name of author. Title of article (in quotation marks). Title of magazine, journal or newspaper (italicized). If a journal, volume and number. Date of publication. Pages. Name of the database (italicized). Medium. Date of access.
