From:

American Psychological Association. (2009). Publication Manual of the American Psychological

Association (6th ed.). Washington, DC: Author.

Major Changes:

-"...we recommend that you include the same elements, in the same order, as you would for a reference to a fixed-media source and add as much electronic retrieval information as needed for others to locate the sources you cited." (p.187)

-DOI system (Digital Object Identifier) is an alphanumerical system developed by publishers and assigned to articles.

-"When the document is not easily located through its primary publishing channels, give the home or entry page URL of the online archive." (p. 192) (Again, it applies to the online databases).

-Not "necessary" to include database information. (p.192)

-Do not include retrival dates. (p.192)

-For journals: if issue is mentioned and if each issue starts on p.1, include after Vol. number, in parenthesis. (p.199)

- If article appears on discontinuous pages, give all the page numbers, and separate by commas (p.200)

-Database names and abstract identifier (if applicable) may be given for material of limited circulation. (p.202)

-Books & chapters online do no need location & publisher, just the doi or URL (p.203)
