SHOOTING STAR PROGRAM

Employee Appreciation and Incentive Program

A Shooting Star is often defined as a streak of light in the night sky, a wish to be made … something that captures the eye and moves one in awe and appreciation.

This latter definition can also be applied to a person whose abilities and talents appear to extend “above and beyond” the parameters of their job description. After all, “Only Shooting Stars break the mold!” (Smashmouth, 1999).

Shooting Star

Many of us have encountered those whose creativity and imagination, passion and intellect, experience and expertise, as well as their team playing collective effort stands out and causes notice.  These talents very well may cause an employee’s “above and beyond” attitude and ultimately make this employee worth recognizing.

It is with this in mind that the Shooting Star - Employee Appreciation and Incentive Program was created.  For the basics.

What is a Shooting Star?

The Shooting Star Program is an easy way to quickly recognize and express gratitude to the employees of the District, who’s actions go above and beyond in working with you or/and others.

Who can send a Shooting Star?

A Shooting Star can be sent by anyone working in the College District for anyone at any campus at any time.

When do I send a Shooting Star?

Send a Shooting Star anytime someone has demonstrated internal customer service and/or assistance in a manner that appears to supersede the daily expected routine behavior.

How do I send a Shooting Star?

You can send a Shooting Star at any time by completing an electronic Shooting Star form and selecting the submit button. When submitted the information is forwarded for recording and processing to Cynthia A. Madrid in Human Resources, the Shooting Star’s VP and a copy is sent to the Shooting Star.

* Please Note: The form must include a written description demonstrating the nominee’s service was above and beyond the normal parameters of their job.

We believe that all the employees of El Paso Community College are Shooting Stars and deserve the recognition of a job well done – for their tasks can capture our eye and move us in awe and appreciation!
