El Paso Community College is accredited through the Commission on Colleges of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Every 10 years, institutions of higher education need to participate in a Reaffirmation of Accreditation process. EPCC was up for reaccreditation in 2003. One component of the process involves a self-study conducted by the institution. EPCC opened a Self-Study Office and appointed a Self-Study Director from 2000-2003 to oversee the self-study component and the April 2003 SACS Site Visit. SACS provides standards that all institutions of higher education must meet in order to maintain accreditation. These standards address all aspects of higher education including admissions, instruction, faculty credentials, student services, student and instruction support services, administrative organization, facilities, and financial responsibility.
