My primary goal is to help students who place into Developmental courses succeed in their classes. I accomplish this by referring them to tutorial services or supplement their learning with computer assisted tutoring. With this help, the student is able to stay up with the rest of the class and successfully pass the course. I also help students advance by re-testing. I help them prepare and master those areas in need of review so that they can place out of developmental courses and continue with their course curriculum.

I have the privilege of working with PREP as a Program Specialist. My primary goal is student retention. I work with the students to resolve any issues that interfere with their academic progress. I also help students advance through the Developmental Education sequence with the help our PREP Lab. Using our lab, students can prepare to re-test. It is very rewarding when I see students succeeding in college, but when I see a student re-test and skip or place out of Developmental Education-this is my biggest reward. I invite you to come and speak to me if you need assistance.

Welcome to PREP! How can I help you? There are two ways. If you are a new student in the process of taking the ACCUPLACER, I can help you prepare through an assessment. This will identify the areas you will need to work on, and through tutoring at the PREP Lab you will be able to strengthen these areas. If you have already taken the ACCUPLACER and think you could have done better, or if you need to take it for health professons ranking, I can help you prepare for retesting. I can also be a great resource for you. I have worked for EPCC for over 20 years, so if I don't have the answer-I know who does. I hope to hear from you!

I have been an employee at El Paso Community College for many years in various capacities. Even though I have enjoyed all of them, my most gratifying work has always been working with students. As a graduate of EPCC, and the parent of two former students of EPCC, I recognize the importance of my role as a front-line employee who provides pertinent information and services to students. My priority as a Program Specialist is to provide students with the kind of service they need in order to succeed in their educational goals.

This is an excellent program for the student who has just begun college life. It offers services that are crucial to a student's success within the college network. I enjoy helping students and watching them achieve their goals. I've worked with Developmental Education students since 1995 as a Academic Tutor for the CAI Program at Valle Verde. I later became a certified tutor for ATB/GED at Mission del Paso. Now, as a Program Specialist, I monitor students closely. By working hand in hand with students and using an assessment tool, I am able to pinpoint all skill areas where a student needs improvement and prepare a tutoring plan for the student. With referrals to our PREP Lab, I ensure the student is getting the tutoring he/she needs to achieve success. I enjoy meeting with students and discussing their goals and success and any problems they may be encountering. So if you and your friends are first time in college students and want to know more about our services, stop by my office at Mission Del Paso Room E108 so we can talk.
