The EPCC Women won the NJCAA Region V and Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC) cross country championship for the third consecutive year, Saturday in Roswell, NM. The women were led by 2nd place finisher Florence Ngetich who ran the 5K course in 18:13. She was followed by Brissia Montalvo in 4th place at 18:40, Elizabeth Beltran in 6th place at 19:06 and Flor Luna in 7th place at 19:08. All four women earned All-Conference honors.
The other Tejanas runners were Viviana Contreras, 12th place at 19:38, Adriana Rosales, 15th place at 19:54 and Yennifer Mendez, 28th place at 21:47. Caroline Jepleting of New Mexico JC won the women’s race in 16:53 in a field of 41 runners.
The women’s team scores were:
- El Paso CC: 31 points
- South Plains College: 57 points
- New Mexico JC: 69 points
- Western Texas College: 84 points
- New Mexico Military: 105 points
- Clarendon College: 150 points
- Odessa College had an incomplete team
The EPCC Tejanos finished in 2nd place as a team. The men were led by 5th place finisher Jacob Villarreal who ran the 8K course in 27:46. He was followed by Raudel Miranda, 6th place at 27:55, Aaron Granados, 7th place at 28:14 and Jesus Garcia, 9th place at 28:23. All four men earned All-Conference honors. The other Tejanos runners were Bobby Herrera, 13th place at 28:44 and Oscar Cardiel, 16th place at 30:07. Tallam Kipruto of South Plains College won the men’s 8K event in a time of 25:58 in a field of 32 runners.

- El Paso CC: 40 points
- Western Texas College: 64 points
- Odessa College: 114 points
- Clarendon College: 119 points
