Overview

 
Information Technology Systems (ITS) is a broad term that includes all aspects of managing and processing information and related technologies. Specifically, information technology professionals are responsible for designing, developing, supporting and managing computer hardware, computer software, and information networks, such as the Internet. The realworld applications of information technologies can be found everywhere.

The Information Technology Systems Discipline, offered by El Paso Community College, prepares and develops graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to qualify as junior programmers, data support specialists, computer-application users, network specialists, network security specialists, and computer operators. The curricula are designed to acquaint the student  with the functions of computers by placing specific emphasis on business programming, business data support, business application packages, and business computer operations.
 
Graduates of this program will have the skills necessary to:
 
Write program code, design and develop computer systems, administor and maintain networks, troubleshoot networks and computer systems, run cable for initial network setup, design, create, program, and maintain websites, monitor computer operations, enter data accurately and efficiently, support technical office applications, and create geographical surveys and maps.
