Spina Bifida patients get funds

This year’s EPCC annual fundraiser donates the funds to the ‘Avanza’, an association that helps finding a solution for people born with Spina Bifida. Avanza also informs and gives support to parents that recently gave birth to a child affected by such a disorder.

Volunteers gave manicures, massages
and cut hair to raise money.

“My children have this disorder and that’s why I volunteer to work for this organization,” said Veronica Villaba, Avanza secretary.

There were several volunteer participants providing services such as hair cuts, manicures and massages. Students, staff and faculty participated in the activities to raise money for the local charity.

According to Claudia Chacon, a part-time instructor who was in charge of this particular activity, the fundraiser was quite successful like the previous years.

“EPCC has a lot of potential, youth and people who are interested in the community. EPCC is not just a school. It is the community itself,” said Chacon.
