EPCC and the Maltese Knights organization are teaming up to hold a fund raiser to help local burn victims and families of fallen firefighters.
According to Claudia Chacon, the academic advisor of Society for Past Cognitive Studies, the Maltese Knights were created in 2002 locally to help raise money to establish a burn victim’s hospital unit in the city.
The fourth annual event, sponsored by ESL and the reading and social sciences division, is scheduled for Nov. 2, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Valle Verde cafeteria annex and patio.
Firefighters will give presentations on preventing fires to educate people about the importance of fire safety.
Entertainment will be provided by folklorico dancers, cheerleaders and clowns.
Cotton candy, popcorn and goodie bags will be given to children.
There will be reduced pricing for massages from private salons, $6 haircuts and manicures from JC Penney cosmetologists to raise funds.
There will also be wedding booths, jumping balloons and face painting.
The fund raiser will also include live music and a boxing tournament.
Organizers will be collection donations at various locations during the event.
