A new Texas law has limited the number of classes a student can drop during his or her college career to six. Any drops after that result in a "F" grade. What is your reaction to this latest ruling?

I don't think there should be a law. It should be our decision. I think this just gets people mad. I believe two more classes to drop would be better. If a student gets an "F", it will motivate them to do better in the future. If I had to drop more than six classes and then get an "F", I would get aggravated.
I'm surprised. There are a number of circumstances why a student may drop. I don't think that this law takes these circumstances in consideration. To me it seems very limiting. I think it's better if they leave it open. A school is an institution and should always be open and provide learning. With a law like this, they are limiting that.
I think it's good and bad. It's good because people won't use that as an excuse to be lazy. Sometimes students don't try to improve their grades or talk to their professors to figure out options. They just drop. It is easier to drop a class than to try harder. On the other hand, it is bad because it puts pressure on the students who may be ill or facing special circumstances that they can't help but drop. I personally think students should be able to make their own decision.
I think it's ridiculous. Maybe things don't go the way you planned. And six [drops] is two a year for three years. That is not much, but in the end, I think after six drops you should already know what you want to do with your life. I believe that it's fair. I don't think it is a good reason to drop, just because you don't like your professor. Who says that you are going to like your next professor? You shouldn't let a professor stop you from achieving your goal.
