EPCC
has been involved in the National Tutoring Association (NTA), a non-profit
member serving association. Tutors from the five tutorial services
at each campus in addition to the three grant funded programs were
recognized on Oct. 9-13.
Each tutor received a letter of recognition from Dr. Richard Rhodes,
certificates and prizes.
“Tutoring can make the difference,” said Irma Camacho,
Director of Student Success. “They are very important to Student
Success seeing that tutoring is a form of instruction, it really helps
students learn concepts they didn’t understand in class.
“Students should really take advantage of the tutors we have
to get the most out of their education.” Many students agree.
“Its not only refreshing my own math skills but it is also very
gratifying to help a student, so they come back happy with a good
grade,” said student Alberto Isassi
Although National Tutoring Week is over it is never too late to go
up to your tutor and give thanks for their help. I’m sure they
would appreciate a thank you any day.
