Latin
Kings of Comedy George Lopez, Carlos Mencia and Paul Rodriguez, made
household names of themselves, and we had the makings of a different
kind of Latin flair.
In the heart of New York City were three compadres were making a name
on the streets and in comedy clubs across the city. Little did they
know, they were creating a Legend.
On Oct. 10, we bring back to life three comedians in this highly entertaining
DVD, The Latin Legends of Comedy, and share with a whole new generation
the witty and raw comedy these guys posses.
Some may already be familiar with the likes of the namesake J.J. “The
Latin Lunatic” Ramirez, a Puerto Rican from Brooklyn, who made
the comedic circuit back in the early 80’s.
He was in the same company as Lopez and Mencia, but has yet to make
his “Big Break,” though he has been featured on two well-known
cable comedy shows: Comedy Central and Showtime. His major comic influences
were Jay Leno, host of the Tonight Show and the late Freddie Prinze,
father to actor Freddy Prinze Jr., a Hollywood heartthrob. He continues
to stay on the touring scene to keep his name alive.
Still a highly respected comedian, and well known throughout the comedic
circle of friends, he is labeled as the, “Next Big Star.”
He can be seen during October in Atlantic City, N.J., from the 15-21
at the world renown, NY City Comedy Club.
The DVD also included Joe Vega, who has not only been working comedy
clubs, but has hit both the big and small screens in show business.
Vega had a part in the poker dramatization Rounders, as well as the
NBC hit drama, Law and Order. He has also been seen on tour with big
names such as Chris Rock and Marc Anthony.
Vega seems to add a sense of class and charm to this DVD. His light-hearted
comedy like that of Ramirez, focused on what it is to be and grow
up a Latino environment.
Another name you won’t soon forget, if you haven’t heard
of him before, is Cuban immigrant Angel Salazar. Salazar also made
a name for himself in Hollywood, starring in two hugely popular productions,
Scarface and Carlito’s Way. He’s wickedly funny and not
your average Latino. He adds major character to this must-see DVD.
If you enjoy comedy, be it from Latin perspective or not, this production
is worth your time, just for the sheer legend of comedy itself! The
brilliance in the minds of these comedians will help you stop for
a few minutes and simply just laugh again.
Don’t just rent it, add it to your collection! It’s worth
every cent!
