Former EPCC instructor loses house to fire, asks for help
By Leslie Council

Former part-time EPCC ESL instructor turned student, Victor Macias, never expected to watch his house go up in flames. Fortunately, he and his parents escaped with their lives and only the clothes on their backs.

“We need clothes and food. That’s all we really need to help us get through. We have insurance, but while they’re deciding - we don’t have anything,” said Macias.

The charred remains of the inside of Victor Macias’ house
are laid out across his front yard. Anyone wishing to donate
money, food, or gift cards can call Macias at 820-7224.

His former residence, 1512 Wes Ellis in East El Paso, ignited due to a light fixture short in the garage. It quickly traveled to the kitchen and throughout the house.

“We were lucky because when we came out, smoke had fully covered the house and windows were popping,” said Macias. The family is asking for help in the form of gift cards for clothes, blankets and food. Macias attends classes at the Mission Del Paso campus.

Assistance can be sent by mail, via store gift cards, to P.O. Box 960183, El Paso, TX 79996, or to deposit into their relief account, contact Victor Macias by phone at 820-7224.
“I would like to thank everyone ahead of time for their contributions,” he said. “God bless you all and every little bit counts.”
