Who would believe that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran, asked if he could lay a wreath at the site of the World Trade Center in New York?
There’s no need to think about it because he already did. Ahmadinejad, who takes most of the blame for igniting the Iraqi war, has some nerve to ask whether he could lay a wreath at the WTC site.
This is the guy that will not suspend Iran’s uranium enrichment program. That’s correct, uranium the element that’s used to create weapons of mass destruction.
Zalmay Khalilzad, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations (UN), said that the U.S. would not support Iran’s chance for a photo opportunity.
Ahmadinejad said that his country wanted peace and friendship with the U.S., if he wants peace, he can do a number of things, such as suspending his uranium enrichment program and stop being a safe haven for terrorism.
Ahmadinejad has been the Bush administration’s scapegoat for the ongoing violence in Iraq. I really don’t understand this guy. Does he have a motive? What is his angle? Is he just that arrogant?
Dan Gillerman, Israeli UN Ambassador, said that the U.S. should have prevented Ahmadinejad from entering the country. What is the U.S. thinking, in allowing a person who has been accused of supplying terrorists that kill our troops?
“It is unacceptable for Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who refuses to renounce and end his own country’s support of terrorism, to visit the site of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation’s history,” said Democratic U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton.
I’m not sure if this is a good idea, but I would not take a chance. If Ahmadinejad is to attend a UN assembly, it better be about him supporting the United States’ mission in Iraq. If it isn’t, they should have the meeting somewhere else.
The assembly is scheduled for Sept. 25. Americans may become very upset at this and practice their right to assemble.
There is a possibility that some patriotic citizen may even do something extraordinary.
