Students are encouraged to take advantage of EPCC’s recent merger of three student centers which offer free and important assistance.
The joining of the college’s Job Placement/Co-Op, Transfer and Career Centers was designed to provide enhanced help for EPCC students.
Students can search for their career choice, transfer in or out of EPCC and find employment at one location.
With more than 50 jobs posted at the Career Center, specialists help students with many tasks, such as finding a job, preparing a resume and improving interviewing skills.
Among the services offered is the Self-Assessment Exam, which determines a student’s most likely career of choice, depending on aspirations and skills.
The results may lead students to find the colleges that offer their selected program of study.
This is where the Transfer Center comes in. They assist in providing students information on the best degree programs.
Also, students are able to learn which classes are transferable toward their degree plan.
The Co-Op Program allows students to find an occupation or a paid internship while earning credit hours toward their degree of choice.
“All you need to do is be a student at EPCC and to attend a one-hour orientation,” said Ray Dorado, employment specialist at the Valle Verde campus.
Orientations are held Monday through Thursday and are scheduled according to the student’s availability.
To get further information and to schedule an appointment, visit the Career Center at any EPCC campus or call 831-2605.
