Ortiz believes that these photos are used for one reason
and one reason only. “I think most of what celebrities do…
their actions are narcissistic and self-promoting. I definitely think
these photos are used for publicity purposes and self-promotion.”
In the case of Tom Cruise, “he took a huge hit in celebrity status with his scientology [talk] and Paramount cut.” Ortiz has a few words for Brad and Angelina as well. “You don’t sell baby pictures for $4 million.” |
De La Cruz takes a similar stance. “Yeah,
it was a publicity stunt. The last two years, Tom Cruise has been acting
outrageous. Not too long ago, when he was married to that one actress,
he was a successful actor with a great career.” De La Cruz believes it’s all a desperate attempt to get back in the spotlight. “I hear [crazy] stories circulating all over the internet. Tom Cruise is trying to get his credibility back. I think he’s trying to show the world that he wants it back.” |
If ever a different view, you will find it in Alvidrez.
“I don’t think stars are at fault, it is the public at large.
I think the public and the media are creating more of it. They are the
ones offering the money and celebrities are laughing their way to the
bank.” When asked if he has seen any of the photos himself, Alvidrez
replies, “I’m not in to it. I don’t care. I have a
life. I have chores to do and errands to run. I’ll watch their
movies in my free time, but that’s the only money I’m going
to spend on them. Idolizing a baby is just plain dumb.” |
“I think it’s just for publicity,”
stated Aguirre. Most people seem to agree with her assetion, but she
also offers another perspective. “Right now, if they don’t have kids and no one is looking at them… I think celebrities are competing.” On Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s recent birth, “As soon as all of us found out they were having a baby, all of a sudden it was all about them, actors and their spotlights.” |
