Newspaper name against “our” tradition
Well you got your wish for now. You changed the name. I must inform you that this effort will not last. When you leave, I will get the next editor to change the name back.
You apparently don’t care about tradition because it is not your tradition. It is our tradition and we want the name back. Thank you

“Tejano Tribune” a nice change
I have no problem with changing the name of the college newspaper. I agree with “Tribune” being part of the name. But I have a problem with “Tejano.” I find it a little racist.
I know Hispanics probably make up the largest percent of enrolled students. I doubt if 100 percent of them were born in Texas.
For some reason, when talking about El Paso, our community leaders talk about a bicultural community, and I disagree.
We are a multicultural community. Anyone seeking entrance into our college, whether they are Filipino, German, Hindu, Chinese, African-American, and others, should feel welcome.
The newspaper is for ALL students. Maybe you should invite all students to submit articles in their own language.
I don’t think we should be focusing on the Tejano or Mexican population only.
Come up with a name that embraces all cultures. As we welcome dependent children of the new military troops coming from many parts of the United States, we’ll have a bigger mix of cultures.
By your definition, I am not a Tejana because I was born in California. I am of Mexican decent but simply prefer to be referred to as an American. Thank you
