The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at EPCC is actively involved in the college and community.
One of the most recent projects, Operation Green, involved collecting as much trash at the TM campus as possible.
In partnership with Keep America Beautiful, Inc., a nationwide organization that aims to improve the environment through cleanups, recycling and planting, volunteers filled up seven 32-gallon trash bags on March 1.
“It was a lot more than I expected,” said Rana Wheeler, Phi Theta Kappa member, referring to the amount of trash lying along the vast field of the campus.
“I like giving back to the community,” said
Jessica Murillo, Phi Theta Kappa member.
According to Darcy Traffansted, Texas regional vice president of the Omega Gamma chapter at EPCC, the goal was to collect 12 bags, but 30 were actually collected.
