El Pasoans invited to be part of online auction
By Damien Carranza

In an attempt to raise funds for EPCC scholarships, two events are scheduled. The college’s Research and Develop-ment will be holding an auction through the Internet.

According to Ron Stroud, director of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, the auction will begin in the middle of March and will feature a website with pictures of the items. Customers will be able to place their bids through a special email address.

“Some items donated in the past few years were artwork, furniture and objects I’ve never seen and surprised me. There have been electronic items as well, such as stereo systems,” said Stroud.

According to Brenda Willmarth, administrative associate, last year’s earnings averaged about $45,000.

“This year we’re hoping to increase that amount with a goal of $100,000,” said Willmarth.

The third annual Administrative Waiters Luncheon, scheduled for April 30 at the ASC Auditorium, will offer food for faculty and staff.

Servers of the luncheon will not be professional waiters, but EPCC administration members.

“Usually it’s the employees doing most of the work. In this case, everything is reversed. Employees might be waited on by their own boss. Saul Candelas, my boss, will be one of the waiters,” said Stroud.

Those interested in donating items, which need to be in good condition, should contact Ron Stroud at 831-2614.
