It's
time to partner up! The 2006 EPCC Huacha Tournament is looking for
teams to apply.
Leon Wade, the event's organizer, is very enthusiastic about this
year's tournament. "We would like to see more students involved
in this year's games," said Wade.
Although Huacha is hard to put into words, it can be summed up as
a southwestern style of horse shoes, where the object of the game
is to get a washer into a hole.
The deadline to register for the tournament, which has been held since
1999, is March 22. Students, faculty and the surrounding community
are encouraged to join the tournament.
Each campus is hosting events and must have at least 8 teams sign
up. To join, all participants must sign up with a partner. The tournament
requires that participants be on their feet.
It's recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. There is
not an age limit and mixed partners are welcome.
First place will be awarded a trophy and all finalists will receive
T-shirts. To sign up or for more information, call Leon Wade at 831-6527.
Participants may sign up over the phone as well. All equipment will
be provided.
The Huacha championship for all campuses will be on Thursday, April
27 at the Valle Verde campus.
This year EPCC's marketing department is sponsoring the tournament.
