The
Walt Disney World College Program began recruiting EPCC students on
Feb 24 and will continue through April 6.
The Disney College Program offers undergrads the opportunity to live
independently, gain experience in a working environment, and to take
courses that teach management.
Before
attending the required presentation, students interested in the Disney
program must go on-line to disneycollegeprogram.com. There the student
will go through the online tour.
After the presentation, an appointment is set for a phone interview.
Disney then sends applicants a letter stating whether or not they
have been accepted into the program.
To accept the offer, the applicant will then go back to the Disney
web page and choose an arrival and departure date.
The applicant can then plan their trip to Disney. Disney does not
provide the means of arriving at the Vista Way apartment complex,
the reception area where new hires are given a presentation and a
key to an apartment.
Fernie Carreon, a campus representative for the program said, "The
first time I was in the program, was the first time I had been away
from home. Disney made the transition smoother and I didn't have to
worry about any thing like transportation or a place to live. I was
accepted into the hospitality division and I worked as front desk
and conventions at the Yacht and Beach Resort."
"After the program, when I came back, I went to the first presentation
for the program. I wanted to share my experiences with others who
wanted to go. The Recruiter then asked me about becoming a campus
representative," said Carreon.
"Sign up and if you are accepted, experience it to the fullest.
It is work, but it is a lot of fun," said Carreon.
Antonio R. Scandiffio, the Director of Cooperative Education and Job
Placement said, "When I went over there to an educator's conference
in August, I took a tour of the resort. Along the way I found one
of my students. Before he went to Walt Disney, he had earrings on
his ears and face. When I saw him on the tour, I could not recognize
him. It is a working vacation that enhances your life experiences,"
said Scandiffio.
Recruiters for the Walt Disney program will visit the Valle Verde
campus on: April 5 in the cafeteria from 9-12 pm, in B-240 at 3 pm,
and on April 6 in B-241 at 10 a.m.
