Thanks
for giving blood
To
all students, staff, and faculty,
On behalf of myself and my family, I want to thank all of you who
donate blood. My husband George, a retired history instructor, had
a hip replacement last July. Because of multiple complications, he
had the 8th surgery and, we hope, the final one January 10th.
He has been on blood thinners for a number of years and they impacted
the outcomes of seven of the surgeries. He has finally come home after
six months in the hospital and the rehab center. He is weak but gradually
recovering.
During the many surgeries, he had 36 units of blood and blood factors.
If it had not been for the generosity of people like you, he would
have died.
So, thank you Dr. Stroud, for organizing the blood drives and everyone
who donates blood. Your gift of life made it possible for George to
survive the many surgeries he had to endure.
He is not the only one to require the “gift of life”,
so please keep giving because one day, unexpectedly, you or one of
your family members may also be in need.
If you are unable to give blood, consider becoming a bone marrow donor.
Both are in critical demand.
Thank
you again.
