Blessed be Man offers, without presumption, a new type of music that El Paso is not used to. With only one electrical guitar, thirteen effect pedal and other objects out of the ordinary, Blessed be Man successfully
enters the intimate feelings of his listeners with his music.
John López the only member of Blessed Be Man obtained his associates of arts at EPCC in 2003. He is in the process of concluding his bachelors of special Education at UTEP. With more than ten years experience in the music industry, López has played in various bands but this time it was different.
“I was tired of depending on others to play in a band, they were never as dedicated as I was so I just wanted to do this on my own and depend on myself only,” said López . “I started writing my songs in January 2006, but most of the songs have existed in my head for years.”
Blessed be man recorded its first full length album in October 2006, and then recorded a demo specially designed for distribution at the SXSW music festival, in March 2007. A new album is in the works and is expected to be completed by mid 2008.
“What I wish to accomplish with this project is to touch, and move people with my music. Let it take you to that special place in your mind and visualize a dream without sleep, a painting with no canvas. Take each song and interpret it as your own experience, and create your own story, your own lyrics, poem, and your own life. These songs were born from the deepest depths of my heart and soul. There are no vocals. There are no lyrics. All I've got is a red guitar, three chords, and the truth.”
