The
communication department at EPCC has a new addition to its program.
Since KCOS, Channel 13, moved to the ASC building from UTEP right
next to EPCC-TV, a new partnership was created and is expected to
take the communication department to a whole a new level.
With the addition of classes like TV Production, students can get
a better understanding of what happens in a working TV studio. All
students can volunteer and work at KCOS, but only those looking to
earn credit for going, must register in one of the TV Production classes.

According to the Electronic Media Coordinator, Ruth McDonald, the
partnership will grow in time to the point that programming created
by students will be broadcasted nation-wide through cable.
Students interested in working in television or cinema are taking
advantage of this new addition and are quite happy with the program
and the direction that the communication department is heading.

ASC. The EPCC television station recently moved their to co-locate
with KCOS Channel 13.
Several
changes have been made so that the program is now transferable to
other universities in Texas, like UTEP.
This is the second semester for the new TV Production classes and
they have continued to grow ever since. Students interested in TV
internships have to register for the class.
The KCOS, EPCC-TV partnership will give a major boost to the college
and hopefully will continue to expand so that it can be compared to
the communication programs of other major colleges and universities
in the country.
As the program teams up with other communication outlets available
for students and managed by students, like the student newspaper,
El Conquistador and KCCR, the communication department will be bigger
and better.
