EPCC students will soon have the opportunity to perform in the classic American play, The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams.
Auditions will be held on Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. at the VV campus, room C-401.
Hector Serrano, drama instructor, is looking for two men and one woman, ranging from 18 to 30 years of age to play the parts of Tom and Laura Wingfield and Jim O’Connor.
Students must recite a one-minute monologue from a contemporary play before doing cold readings from the script.
Acting experience is not necessary, but preferred.
For the sibling roles of Tom and Laura Wingfield, Serrano stated his preference.
“They have to look like brother and sister,” he said.
He also gave a synopsis of the play.
“It’s about a family who lives in the South, and they have a domineering mother who’s trying to find a suitor for her shy daughter,” said Serrano.
“The brother brings home a friend and revelations are discovered in a dramatic situation.”
The role of Amanda Wingfield, the mother, has already been cast to Cornelia Patterson, faculty member of the drama department.
Serrano prefers using EPCC students, but auditions are open to everyone.
He said that private auditions are available, but must be arranged as soon as possible.
Rehearsals are slated to begin the following week, and performances are scheduled for April 11, 12, 18 and 19 at the Transmountain Forum Theater.
