El Paso Community College has formed a task force to deal with important issues and emergencies. The Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Task Force (PRR Task Force), manned with key individuals from the College, addresses on-going concerns and will prepare communications to the College as situations materialize.
The PRR Task Force is currently involved in disseminating information on the H1N1 virus and would like to pass along the following information:
In the absence of any confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus from the City Health Department, business and classes will proceed as scheduled. Classes are not to be canceled, postponed or rescheduled unless directed by a Vice President in consultation with the President.
If you have flu-like symptoms it is recommended that you do not come to work or school, faculty should contact their Dean’s office, students should refer to their syllabus on how to contact their professor’s, and staff should contact their immediate supervisor.
Deans, faculty and supervisors who are notified that someone has been exposed to the H1N1 virus should not panic and should contact the Office of Risk Management and Safety at 831-6444.
General information and updates on the H1N1 virus can be found on the home page of
www.epcc.edu . Measures are also being taken to ensure that bathrooms are kept stocked with adequate supplies on all campuses.
The PRR Task Force is prepared to use the “Tejano Alert” emergency notification system to alert the College community of an emergency through your cell phone and/or email address.
In order for you to become familiar with the “Tejano Alert”, there will be tests of system in the near future.
The PRR Task Force and Office of Risk Management and Safety are continuing to monitor the situation and will keep you informed.
