Fall Session Hours for Math & Writing Centers:

As one of the services provided by the college, Tutorial Support Services at Valle Verde plays an integral role in the development and advancement of students and the community at large.  While there are tutoring areas at all of the campuses/centers,  each one is independent and different; Valle Verde is the only location that offers complete  services in one department.  Click here for our location. Under the Tutorial Support Services umbrella there are currently three complete centers: the GED Center, the Math Center, and the Writing Center.

The Math Center not only takes up the largest amount of space within the mini-complex of rooms, but the tutors in the Center help the largest number of students.  The Math tutors provide help starting at the most basic level up to the more sophisticated Differential Equations and beyond.  Of course, the business math students also frequent the Center.

Likewise, the Writing Center has a steady stream of students from basic writing through literature courses and, quite often, students from the University of Texas at El Paso as well. In addition to helping students with their writing assignments, the tutors in the Writing Center are often called upon to assist students with their reading comprehension.  Further, the Writing Center is the place where students in the social science classes come for help.

Finally, the GED Center tutors clients who have failed a portion of the General Education Diploma exam. Tutoring is handled by contract only, and a referral from the Testing Center is needed to enroll. Tutoring groups are organized monthly and clients meet for two hours weekly per subject.
