OWL (Online Writing Lab):

Policies for Online Tutoring

Before you fill out the online tutoring form to the El Paso Community College Writing Center tutors, please make sure that you read and understand our following policies:

Editing

We do not proofread or edit drafts of any students' written work. We're happy to direct people to resources like our online handouts that can help them learn to become better editors of their own writing.

Evaluating Drafts

Because of our limited resources at this time, we can only accommodate EPCC students online. Community members are still welcome to come in and get help in the Writing Center (Valle Verde Campus room A-1421). Commenting on a paper takes a significant amount of time, and we will try to get back to you within 48 hours. Please remember, it may take longer to get back to you on weekends, holidays, and when school is out of session. Tutors will reply to your submission during our normal hours of operation. While we won't provide a detailed analysis, we will offer general comments on an individual short paper, or a section of a larger research paper.

Message Formats

When you send messages to us, please use the online form. You may cut and paste from your document into the form. Please limit drafts to no more than 3 pages. Also, please provide a valid e-mail address. This will be the address that we will send your response to. If no valid address is given, we will not be able to respond to your submission.

After you have read our policies, please click the submit button below to continue:
