Student Support Services Program

 Program Objectives

The S.S.S. Program will identify and select 600 eligible students each year and:

 *  78% of all participants served by the SSS Program will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year or graduate and/or transfer from a 2 year to a 4 year institution during the academic year. 

*  91% of all enrolled participants served by the SSS Program will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at EPCC.  

*  12% of the new participants served each year will graduate with an associate's degree or certificate within four years, and 

*  6% of new participants served each year will transfer with an associate's degree or certificate within four years.

 Selection Requirements

An individual is eligible to participate in a Student Support Services Program if the individual:

1.) Is a citizen or national of the United States:

     Is a permanent resident of the United States:

     Provides evidence from the Immigration and Naturalization Service that he or she is in United States for other than temporary purposes with the intention of becoming a citizen:

or permanent resident:

               OR:

     Is a permanent resident of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.

2.) Is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in the next enrollment period at the grantee institution:

3.) Has a need for academic support in order to successfully pursue a post-secondary program

               AND

4.) IS AT TIME OF INITIAL SELECTION

A low income individual - and individual whose family taxable income did not exceed 150% of the poverty level in the calendar year preceding the year in which the individual participates in the program.

A first generation college student - a person neither of whose parents received a bachelor's degree

               OR

an individual with a disability - a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such individual.
