Math Science Engineering Improvement Program


Dr. Maria Alvarez MSEIP Program Director shows a high magnification of E. coli bacteria to a group of students using the scanning electron microscope (SEM). The SEM was purchased with MSEIP funds and has been used in a variety of student projects including bacterial biofilm formation, phytoremediation, soil mite population studies, and crystal formation.
