The MLT performs analytical laboratory procedures on blood and other body fluids, collecting blood specimens through phlebotomy.
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs a wide range of routine laboratory procedures under the supervision
of a Pathologist, Medical Technologist or Laboratory Supervisor. They perform various complicated hematological, chemical,
immunological and microbiological tests on blood and body fluids.
Recognized as one of the best in the nation, our Medical Laboratory Technology program will teach you to perform a variety
of procedures in hematology, blood bank, clinical chemistry and microbiology as you prepare to work in a hospital, clinic,
or blood bank laboratory. Graduates are eligible for national certification.
While published in the college catalogue as a two year integrated program, Health Occupations Specialized Admissions Procedures
require students to compete for placement into all Health Occupation programs. Students competing for one of the 12 MLT
seats will be required to complete the cognate courses prior to acceptance into the program. Once admitted by the Office
of Admissions, the program can be completed in less than two years.
Please Note: This program is offered in block schedule and is 5-semesters long: Fall, Spring, Summer I
