 EPCC Foundation Scholarships

***SCHOLARSHIP(S) DEADLINE***

 

The scholarship application will be available the first week of January and will close April 1st.  An e-mail notification will be sent to your EPCC e-mail when these scholarships are available.

 

 

 

Adair Margo
A fourth generation El Pasoan, recognized for her leadership in educational and humanitarian efforts throughout the world, Adair Margo is a dedicated professional who enriches the community through her work.
One scholarship of $1,000 each will be awarded each year ($500 will be awarded for the fall semester and $500 will be awarded for the spring semester).

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Two letters of reference, at least one from an instructor.
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

     ***Preference will be given to students majoring in the visual, literary or performing arts. 

 

 

 Andrew Barcena Memorial Scholarship: $2,000 

  • Must be majoring in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • FAFSA on file.
  • Must be US Citizen or Legal Resident.
  • Preference will be given to dependents of Police Officers.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12hrs) per semester.


     

Allstate $1,000

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.

 

 

Amado M. Peña, Jr. Scholarship

Through the sale of his prints and other artwork, well known southwestern artist, Amado M. Pena, Jr., has established a scholarship fund for El Paso Community College (EPCC) students.
Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded each year ($500 will be awarded for the fall semester and $500 will be awarded for the spring semester).

 

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to Art majors.

 

 

Association of Women in the Community College

  • Female Student.
  • Currently Attending EPCC.
  • Must enroll in a minimum of six (6) academic hours at EPCC during the summer semester.
  • Must have completed twelve (12) academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study.

 

 

Bank of America Scholarship: $1,000

  • Open to any field of study.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why should I be considered for this scholarship?" .
  • FAFSA on file.
  • Must be US Citizen or Legal Resident.
  • Must be low to moderate income level students.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

 

Barnes and Noble Booksellers

  • Full- time EPCC Student (12 hours).
  • Completion of at least 24 academic credit hours earned at EPCC.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better.
  • Experience in student leadership and/ or community service.
  • Must complete 12 credit hours with a 3.0 GPA during Fall semester for Spring semester renewal.

 

 

Bob Wingo Scholarship

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

    

     ***Preference will be given to students majoring in Public Relations or Marketing.

 


Carly Martinez Scholarship

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 9 academic semester credit hours each fall and spring semester.
  • Must have and maintain a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

 

Cecilia Levine Scholarship
Cecilia Levine, President of MFI International Manufacturing, has established a scholarship fund for El Paso Community College (EPCC) students majoring in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
 

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in Business, Accounting or Finance.

 

 

Delgado, Acosta, Branden Jones $750

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship”? .
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.

 


Diane D. Rath Scholarship

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in Business, Accounting or Finance.

 


Dr. Lucy Scarbrough Scholarship

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Open to major, music major preferred.

     ****Performance Component:
After other criteria is met, applicants will be contacted to set up an audition. The student will audition before a jury composed of Dr. Lucy Scarbrough Musician in Residence, and two music faculty members.The audition will be the final part of the selection process and the scholarship recipient will be the applicant selected by the jury.

 

 

Dr. Raymund A. Paredes Scholarship

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

     

     ***Preference will be given to students majoring in English.

 

 

El Paso Community College Culinary Arts Club Scholarship 

Award for Second Year Students: $600
Award for First Year Students: $500
Award for Inbound High School Graduate: $400

 

  • Enrollment in any Culinary Arts Degree Plan at El Paso Community College.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.
  • Good Standing with the Culinary Arts Club.*
  • Participation in club events, fundraisers and meetings.
  • Letter of Recommendation from an employer or instructor.
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12hrs) per semester. 
  • Written essay explaining why you believe you deserve this scholarship.  List work experience, personal achievements/awards and minimum 500 words, double spaced.

 

 *Inbound high school graduates must have participated in Skills USA and have performed 15 hours (minimum) of community service in place of good standing with the Culinary Arts Club. Documentation from charity event(s) is/are required for community service hours.

 

 

El Paso Electric Company Scholarship: $1,000-$2,000 

  • Must be majoring in any of the Health Occupations field.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must be in second semester of program of study.
  • Must submit a letter of recommendation from an EPCC Health Occupation instructor or from a practicum employer.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

El Paso Employees Federal Credit Union $2,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12hrs) per semester.
  • Student or parent must be a member of El Paso Employees Federal Credit Union.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

 

El Paso Radio Association $1,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?"
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.
  • Must be majoring in a Communications and/or Media Relations field of study.
  • Must be on your second year of study (must have earned 30 credit hours or more).

 

Ernesto Serna Memorial Scholarship

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Must have completed or be enrolled for at least 6 academic credits semester hours in Correctional Science or Law Enforcement classes.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

 

 Galen Southern Memorial Scholarship

  Award: 500.00 award (Fall Award)

 

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Must have completed at least one full semester with at least 12 semester credit hours.
  • Must have and maintain a 3.0 or better GPA.
  • Must be in Good Standing.
  • Must enroll for 12 credit hours.

    

 

Gannett Foundation/El Paso Times $1,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?"
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.
  • Open to Journalism, Technology and Business Majors.

 

Garcia Fund $1,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?"
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.

 

George W.S. Abbey Scholarship
A true innovator and pioneer in America’s space program, George W. S. Abbey is an accomplished professional in the field of science and education, as well as a distinguished leader and humanitarian.
One scholarship of $1,000 each will be awarded each year ($500 will be awarded for the fall semester and $500 will be awarded for the spring semester).

 

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in science, engineering, technology or math.

 

Gerardo de los Santos

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Open to all majors.

 

 

Hunt Family Foundation $1,000-$2,000

  • Must meet College Readiness Standards.
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 hrs. or more). 
  • Unless it is the applicant’s first semester of attendance at EPCC, the student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or better.  
  • Must be a resident of the greater El Paso/Juarez/Las Cruces area for at least three of the five years preceding his or her application for scholarship.

 

 

James Eugene Pate Scholarship: $1,000-$2,000 

  • Must be majoring in Interior Design.
  • Must submit an essay answering "What do I plan to accomplish as an Interior Designer?".
  • Must have completed 24 credit hours at EPCC.
  • Must submit one letter of recommendation from an EPCC instructor and one personal one, not from a family member.
  • Must have a 3.2 or better GPA.
  • Open to part-time and full-time students.

 

John Gannon Fund $1,000-$2,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must be majoring Communication and/or Media Relations.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship”?.
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.

 

Jose Cisneros Scholarship

Through the sale of his prints and other art work, well known El Paso artist, José Cisneros, has established a scholarship fund for El Paso Community College (EPCC) students majoring in the visual, performing or literary arts.
Two scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded each year ($500 will be awarded for the fall semester and $500 will be awarded for the spring semester).

 

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in the visual, performing, or literary arts.


Kenneth P. Gifford Foundation $1,960  

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Three Nursing students will be awarded and 2 additional students from any major.  
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?”.
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12hrs) per semester.


      ***Recipients will be asked to attend a Board Meeting.  Recipients will be asked to provide 40 

      hours of volunteer service.  Recipients will attend mentoring meeting with the board.

 

 

Mack Quintana Scholarship
First Hispanic publisher and president of the El Paso Times, Mack Quintana has established a scholarship fund for El Paso Community College (EPCC) students majoring in Mass Communication or Speech.
One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded each year ($500 will be awarded.
for the fall semester and $500 will be awarded for the spring semester).

 

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in Mass Communication or Speech .

 

 

Maria A. Peña Memorial Scholarship

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Declare a major in one of the Arts programs (visual arts, drama, music, dance).
  • Enroll in at least one course in the specified Arts program each semester.
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

 

     ***Preference will be given to students with experience in the specified Arts area.  Either submit a portfolio that demonstrates experience in the chosen field or participate in an audition (portfolios and/or auditions will be the final part of the selection process).

 

 

Mary D. Alanis Memorial Scholarship: $750  (4) 

  • Non-traditional Student.
  • Is currently or has been previously enrolled in one or more developmental course at EPCC.
  • Must be in good standing at EPCC defined by EPCC.
  • During first three years of the scholarship award, preferential consideration will be given to applicants meeting the above criteria who were in enrolled previously in one or more courses taught by Ms. Alanis.
  • Has been previously enrolled in one or more developmental math courses at EPCC.
  • Will complete associates degree at EPCC at the end of the semester in which the scholarship application is made.
  • Has been accepted at a 4-year college or university for the purpose of seeking bachelor's degree.
  • One scholarship is granted in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. A total of four scholarships will be awarded.

 

 

Michael W. Smith

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

 

     ***Preference will be given to students majoring in a Performing Arts field of study.

 

 

Military Dependents Scholarship: $2,000 

  • Open to any field of study.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must be the spouse or child of someone in active duty .
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA .
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12hrs) per semester.

 

Miles Foundation Scholarship: $1,000 

  • Open to any field of study.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be fluent in the English language and be available for an interview.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

Mr. Deane H. Silva Memorial Scholarship

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 9 academic semester credit hours each fall and spring semester.
  • Must have and maintain a 3.0 or better GPA.
  • Must be enrolled in an Education related major.

 

 

Patrick and Bernadette Moreno Memorial

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

    

      ***Preference will be given to Art of Business Administration majors.

 

 

Pepsi Scholarship Fund

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 9 academic semester credit hours each fall and spring semester.
  • Must have and maintain a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

 

Quintanilla Scholarship

Current EPCC Board of Trustee member, Grace, and current Texas State Representative, Chente Quintanilla have established a scholarship fund for El Paso Community College (EPCC) students majoring in Teacher Education.
One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded each year ($500 will be awarded for
the fall semester and $500 will be awarded for the spring semester).

 

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours).
  • Have completed 12 academic credit hours at EPCC.
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Be a graduate of a high school in the Socorro, Tornillo or Fabens district.
  • Must submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.
  • Preference will be given to students majoring in Teacher Education.

 

 

Pepsi/Wal-Mart Community Scholarship: $1,000 per regular semester  

  • Must enroll full time during the Fall and Spring semesters (or the equivalent if enrolled in health care vocations) and half time during summer.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why do I deserve this scholarship?".
  • Must provide proof of financial need (Must apply for a FAFSA).
  • Must not be an employee of Pepsi or Wal-Mart nor be an immediate family member (ex. spouse, child) of an employee.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA (must provide an unofficial transcript).
  • Must be a US Citizen or 1 year US Legal Resident.
  • Open to any field of study.

 

Ready One Ability One Criteria $1,000

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Must be certified under the Ability One Program.
  • Open to part-time students (6hrs enrollment).

 

Ready One $500-$2,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Open to full-time and part-time students.

 

Roger White History Scholarship: $1,000 

  • Must be majoring in History.
  • Must submit an essay answering "What your future goals are?".
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • FAFSA on file.
  • Must have completed at least two history courses with a grade of "C" or better.
  • Must have a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

 

Southwestern Bell Scholarship

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 9 academic semester credit hours each fall and spring semester.
  • Must have and maintain a 3.0 or better GPA.

 

 

The Buddy Walk Scholarship

  • Must be registered with the office of Student with Disabilities.
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or better (cumulative).
  • Submit an essay answering the following, “Why do you deserve this scholarship and what are your goals in your field of study?”.

 

 

The El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame Scholarship

  • Must enroll fulltime (12 hours or the equivalent if enrolled in health care vocations).
  • Must be enrolled for 6 hours combined during Summer Semesters.
  • Must provide proof of financial need (FAFSA in file at Financial Aid Office prior to application).
  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 or better GPA.
  • Must be a U.S citizen or 1 year U.S Legal Resident.

 

 

Southern New Mexico Scholarship: $1,000-$2,000 

  • Open to any field of study.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • FAFSA on file.
  • Must live in New Mexico or be employed at the Sunland Park Racetrack.
  • Must have a 3.2 or better GPA.
  • Open to part-time and full-time students. 

 

 

Subway $1,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Open to full-time and part-time students. 

 

Tenet Health Foundation $2,000 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Proof of being in enrolled in clinical portion of the program will be required.
  • Must be majoring in Nursing and be enrolled in the clinical portion of the program. 
     

 

Texas Gas $500 

  • Be a US citizen or legal resident.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Must submit an essay answering “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?".
  • Open to full-time and part-time students. 

 

 

The Rotary Club of Anthony Scholarship: $500 

  • Must be majoring in Culinary Arts.
  • Must have graduated with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent, 80% or above High School GPA.
  • Must be registered at El Paso Community College at time of application.

 

Wal-Mart/SAMS Community Scholarship: $1,000 per regular semester

  • Student applicant must be currently attending EPCC as a full-time student (12 hours or the equivalent if enrolled in health care vocations) for fall and spring and half-time during summer term.
  • Have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Must have FAFSA on file at the Financial Aid Office prior to applying.
  • Must be US Citizen or 1 yr U.S. Legal Resident.
  • Student may not be an employee of Wal-Mart and SAMS nor can the applicant be an immediate family member (ex. spouse, child) of an employee.
  • Must submit an essay answering "Why do I deserve this scholarship?"
