The College is a reimbursing employer according to the provisions of the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act at no cost to the employee. With certain exclusions, benefits are payable
through the Texas Workforce Commission for services performed while in the employ of the District.
All employees (except students) are covered. Benefits may include weekly payments for the claimant who registers at the local State Unemployment Office when out of work through no fault of his/her own, and is ready, willing and able to work. Academic breaks between semesters are not considered as a separation from employment.
