The Sick Leave Pool is a program that provides for the alleviation of the hardship caused to an employee and the employee’s family if a catastrophic illness or injury forces the employee to exhaust all leave time earned by that employee and to lose all compensation including paid compensation benefits from the College. Employees who are eligible to accrue sick leave may apply to use sick leave from the Sick Leave Pool subject to the other provisions outlined in the Plan Document.
The Sick Leave Pool was established and is maintained by employee contributions. An employee may transfer to the Pool, in eight-hour day increments, not less than one day nor more than three days per fiscal year of the accrued sick leave time earned by the employee. Guidelines stipulate that employees may not designate a specific person to receive their contribution. Employees are encouraged to contribute to the Pool, particularly upon separation from the College.
