Welcome to El Paso Community College (EPCC) Driver Education!



Since 1985, EPCC has trained new drivers in the laws, rules, attitudes and techniques necessary to be a safe defensive driver. Our instructors are courteous professionals with an average of 16 years’ experience in various driver training areas. EPCC driver education courses are approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). We offer many courses to train new and experienced drivers of all ages. At EPCC, we continually strive to offer the best education and promote safe driving within our community. Remember, whether you are learning to drive or just want to enhance your driving skills, EPCC is the best place to start.

The mission of the El Paso Community College Driver Education Department is to provide new and experienced drivers the fundamental skills necessary to become safe and competent drivers.


  • 1985 EPCC offers first Driver Education Class.
  • EPCC Driver Education serves 23 High Schools in El Paso County plus David L. Carrasco and five college campuses.
  • Instructors teach teen and adult drivers.
  • Instructors possess between 10-40 years of driver education experience.
  • All instructors are CPR and First Aide certified.

 Teens Driver Ed

Welcome Teens!


Are you 15 years of age and ready to get your license? El Paso Community College offers Teen Driver Education. New classes begin every six week. Classes are conducted after school at many area high school campuses.

This course is approved by the Texas Education Agency and satisfies the requirement for TEENS (15-18) interested in receiving a driver license. The course presents the laws, rules, attitudes and techniques required to be a safe driver.

 Defensive Driving

Welcome to El Paso Community College (EPCC) Defensive Driving Course!

The EPCC defensive driving course is approved by the Texas Education Agency, Texas Safety Association and National Safety Council. A certificate awarded upon successful completion of the course may entitle you to an insurance discount or ticket dismissal*.

 

*Court must grant permission for a driver to take defensive driving prior to enrollment in the course.

Student Driver 


 Adult Drivers Ed

Welcome to El Paso Community College (EPCC) Adult Driver Education!


Adult Driver Education – Permit Class
Texas law now requires driver license applicants between the ages of 18 and 24 to complete an approved driver education course. EPCC now offer the Six-Hour Adult Permit Class. This course presents the laws and rules governing our roadways. Successful completion of the course qualifies new license applicants for a learner permit.

Classes are conducted on the first Saturday of the month.

Adult Driver Education – Moderate Driving Environment Course
El Paso Community College offers seven hours of behind-the-wheel training for new adult drivers. This course provides seven hours of one on one, behind the wheel instruction for new adult drivers. Student must have a learner's permit.

The course consists of risk assessment, space management concepts, changing lanes, turnabouts, parking, intersections, curves and hills, passing, and special considerations for expressway driving.
