 What are Online Courses

Students “attend” class through the Internet.  Online courses offer flexibility for learning and studying.  Course materials are available seven days a week and 24 hours a day.

Blackboard Learn an LMS (Learning Management System), is the software used by EPCC to deliver online, hybrid and enhanced courses.

Are you self motivated and disciplined? If you are, an online course may be right for you.

 What are Hybrid Courses?

Hybrid courses combine face-to-face on campus meetings with online course work.

Instead of coming to the campus for every class period, you will attend class as scheduled, attendance is required, and complete course work online.

Faculty will provide an orientation and clarify major course concepts, during the first week class sessions, including assignments, course expectations and the use of the Internet.

What technology do I need?

Complete the SmarterMeasure Assessment.

SmarterMeasure is a tool that helps you determine your level of readiness for taking online courses. You will be asked questions on topics, such as "how well you can use a computer," "how motivated, organized, and self-directed you are," and "how you prefer to learn new information." You will also be able to measure your on-screen reading speed and comprehension.

But relax, SmarterMeasure is fun. Your scores on this assessment will not prevent you from taking online courses. Moreover, your scores do not impact your grades in courses you may currently be taking. SmartMeasure is provided by EPCC to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses as you prepare to learn online. SmarterMeasure is a tool to help you succeed!
