Purchasing Services Department News:
 
The Purchasing Services Department will begin using the commodity code book used by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts as of September 1, 2009.  The new code is available here.  This new code book will allow El Paso Community College to more precisely code and track purchases by commodity, as required by law.  The previously-used commodity codes will be non-functional after August 31, 2009.
 
Please use the new commodity codes for all purchase requisitions you enter into Banner for the new fiscal year, 2009-2010.  All questions regarding the new commodity codes should be directed to the Buyer who is responsible for the commodity being purchased (i.e. Debbie Espinoza for office supplies).
 
Users may sort the book by Commodity Code, Buyer, or Commodity Description.  Additionally, users may see “Filter Choices” by drilling down on each column.  This feature quickly allows users to get to the commodity they are looking for without having to click through several pages.

Buyers John Tharp and Art Gonzalez The Purchasing Services Department of the El Paso County Community College District supports the mission of education by providing resources to all college departments in the process of acquiring goods and services.
 
The Purchasing Services Department is responsible for district-wide procurement of goods and services, contracting and risk management. Purchasing policies, procedures and processes must comply with state law provisions of the Texas Education Agency Code Subchapter B, Purchases and Contracts. All purchases are awarded on the basis of "Best Value", in the best interest of the College. Competitive Solicitations are processed utilizing best business practices. Many purchases are conducted by utilizing a variety of existing "cooperative agreements."
